A RETROSPECTIVE ANALYSIS OF EPIDEMIOLOGICAL CHARECTERISTICS OF 231 PATIENTS WITH ORAL CANCERS

Ege Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, KBB Anabilim Dalı, İzmir, Türkiye Cancers of the oral cavity are frequent tumors in ENT practice. They constitute an important group of diseases considering morbidity and mortality. Many studies reported show that these malignancies may vary in sex, age and tumor localization in different countries. 231 cases in Aegean Region were included in this report and their data about tumor localization, age and sex distribution were retrospectively analyzed. Patients with oral cavity cancers in Aegean Region were found to be in middle and advanced ages (40-70 years). Male population was greater than female population. The most frequent malignancy was cancer of the tongue (39%) and cancers of the lip, oropharynx-tonsil, floor of the mouth, buccal mucosa and gingiva-retromolar trigonum followed respectively.
